What is Cancer Art?

October of 2009 in a chance meeting, world renowned artist Jamali and cancer researcher Jeff Wigbels spoke.  While Jeff and his wife Tiffany were in an art studio in New York they admired the art of one artist in particular, Jamali.  By chance Jamali was at the gallery and started a conversation with Jeff and Tiffany.  That conversation led to an obscure and simple question by Jamali, "So tell me, what is your story?"  After taken back, Jeff told his incredible story about his battle against cancer.

On October 11, 2006, Jeff Wigbels learned he had Stage IV non-smokers lung cancer. The next day, his wife — unaware of this — gave birth to their son. The following day, Jeff told her there was a good chance their son soon might not have a dad. But today, because of the targeted therapy being developed at M. D. Anderson, Jeff is watching his children grow up. He believes he’s been given a gift, one that he and Tiffany want to give back.

Jamali was touched by the story.  He had been contributing to cancer research for over ten years.  Jamali and Jeff knew right then what to do and joined together forming "Caner Art" to benefit the Wigbels Herbst fund where 100% of the donations go to Cancer Research.  Here Jamali is painting for a cure as he has selected 50 original master pieces of artwork from his collection to support the Cancer Art Fund and Jamali Art Foundation.
